My first memory of live sound involved single-handedly learning a Behringer Europower 24 channel console at school when I was 11, and I've been playing with sound, lights and video ever since. Educated at Uppingham School in Rutland, my school had a 300 seat receiving theatre that was crewed by students volunteering in their spare time. During my time there I worked my way up from spot-op, through desk opp'ing to technical directing the school's produced shows and live gigs.
My first Job was as a casual technician at SUSU, the Students' Union at the University of Southampton, where I was studying Acoustical Engineering. I quickly started working at the Nuffield Theatre and Mayflower Theatre under the same job title. A year later I started working frequently as a freelance sound tech, starting off patching small festival stages, and gaining experience. Upon graduating in 2016 with a 2.2 (Hons) in Acoustical Engineering (BEng) I stepped straight into my third festival season as a freelancer and have been full-time ever since.
Now qualified as both an Acoustician and a Live Audio system technician, I work as a freelancer, mostly operating L'Acoustics loudspeakers and/or Shure/Sennheiser RF systems. I'm experienced with most common equipment, and the list is too long to explain here, so get in touch and I'd be happy to discuss it over the phone or face-to-face if possible! Some of my experience is listed (and pictured) below:
The Images above are compiled from events that I have worked on in various roles within the audio team. The Header image is actually from an event (Common People Southampton 2016) where I was working as a photographer and therefore is of considerably higher quality.
